Terms
Terms of service
These terms explain how buyers, suppliers, and visitors may use Matera, and where responsibility sits across the marketplace.
Last updated: 24 June 2026
1. Who we are
Matera Eco Ltd provides the Matera website, marketplace, supplier dashboard, buyer tools, comparison features, messaging, and related services. These terms apply when you access or use them.
If you have questions about these terms, contact us at hello@matera.eco.
2. What Matera provides
Matera helps buyers discover sustainable building materials and connect with suppliers. Unless we say otherwise in writing, Matera is a discovery and marketplace platform, not the seller, distributor, installer, certifier, designer, engineer, or manufacturer of listed materials.
Information on Matera may include supplier-provided content, public information, platform-generated summaries, and buyer or supplier communications. We work to keep the platform useful and accurate, but we do not guarantee that all listing details, prices, availability, certifications, lead times, or sustainability information are complete, current, or suitable for a particular project.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account.
Matera is intended for business and professional use. If you create an account for an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.
We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts where we believe there has been misuse, inaccurate information, security risk, legal risk, or breach of these terms.
4. Buyer responsibilities
Buyers are responsible for checking that any material, supplier, quote, certification, technical document, sustainability claim, or delivery arrangement is suitable for their project before relying on it.
You should carry out your own due diligence and, where appropriate, seek professional advice from architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, building control, insurers, or other qualified specialists.
Using Matera to save, compare, message, or request a quote does not create a purchase contract with Matera.
5. Supplier responsibilities
Suppliers are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and completeness of the information they submit or publish on Matera, including product descriptions, prices, stock status, lead times, delivery information, certifications, documents, images, case studies, and sustainability claims.
Suppliers must have the rights to upload or share their content and must keep listings updated when information changes.
Suppliers must not make environmental, performance, certification, compliance, or availability claims unless those claims are accurate, specific, clear, and supported by appropriate evidence.
If we ask for evidence of a claim or listing detail, you must provide it promptly. We may edit, hide, reject, or remove supplier content where we believe it may be inaccurate, misleading, unsupported, unlawful, unsafe, or harmful to marketplace quality.
6. Quotes, messages, and transactions
Matera may help buyers and suppliers communicate, request quotes, and discuss materials. Any contract for sale, supply, delivery, installation, payment, returns, cancellation, warranty, or after-sales support is between the buyer and supplier unless Matera expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
Suppliers are responsible for providing legally required pre-contract information, including business details, product or service descriptions, pricing, taxes, delivery arrangements, payment terms, cancellation rights, and other buyer-facing terms where applicable.
Matera is not responsible for disputes between buyers and suppliers, but we may review communications or account activity to investigate misuse, safety concerns, fraud, or breach of these terms.
7. Sustainability and technical information
Matera focuses on sustainable materials, but sustainability information can be complex and context-dependent. A material appearing on Matera does not mean it is suitable, compliant, lower-impact, or preferable for every use case.
Embodied carbon, circularity, natural material, certification, and similar information should be treated as decision support, not as engineering, legal, procurement, environmental, or compliance advice.
Suppliers and users must avoid vague or exaggerated green claims. Claims should be clear about what they cover, whether they apply to a product, range, process, company, packaging, lifecycle stage, or project, and what evidence supports them.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use Matera to upload unlawful, misleading, infringing, confidential, unsafe, abusive, discriminatory, spam, malware, or fraudulent content.
You must not scrape, copy, reverse engineer, overload, interfere with, or bypass the platform, its security, or its access controls except where permitted by law.
You must not impersonate another person or organisation, submit false information, manipulate reviews or marketplace signals, or use Matera to harass users or send irrelevant outreach.
9. Platform content and intellectual property
Matera, its design, software, branding, marketplace structure, and platform content are owned by Matera Eco Ltd or its licensors, except for content submitted by users or third parties.
When you submit content to Matera, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt, moderate, and distribute that content as needed to operate, promote, improve, and protect the platform.
You remain responsible for your content and must make sure you have the rights and permissions needed to share it with Matera.
10. Paid supplier plans
Some supplier features may require a paid plan, trial, or subscription. Pricing, plan limits, renewal terms, taxes, cancellation rules, and included features will be shown at sign-up or in the supplier dashboard where applicable.
We may change plans or pricing from time to time. If a change affects an active paid plan, we will take reasonable steps to notify the account holder before the change applies.
11. Availability and changes
We may update, suspend, withdraw, or change parts of Matera at any time. We aim to provide a reliable platform, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may update these terms as Matera evolves. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as by updating this page or sending a service notice. Continued use of Matera after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Matera is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of data, project delay, procurement decisions, supplier conduct, buyer conduct, or reliance on incomplete or inaccurate third-party information.
Matera's total liability arising out of or relating to the platform will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to Matera in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or GBP 100.
13. Termination
You may stop using Matera at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you have breached these terms, created risk for the platform or other users, failed to pay fees, or used Matera unlawfully or inappropriately.
After termination, provisions that by their nature should continue will continue, including sections on content rights, liability, disputes, and governing law.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you mandatory rights to bring a claim elsewhere.
